GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – The CHI Health St. Francis Surgery Center is almost open, so on Wednesday staff and board members got together for a ribbon cutting to celebrate.
This 37,500 square-foot-space is replacing the old 40-year-old facility. It has seven operating rooms with state-of-the-art imaging technology, one sterilization center and a separate drive-up entrance.
The center was designed with nurses and surgery staff input to provide the best care for patients.
“These rooms were designed and built not just for what we do today but – what we’re going to be prepared for new technology that’s evolving and being developed today,” CHI Health St. Francis President Ed Hannon said. “We’ll have a space that can accommodate that for patients for generations to come.”
“People don’t have to leave the community to get great care,” Surgical Services Clinical Manager Kim Calkins said. “We have great physicians and great surgeons and now great operating rooms here at St. Francis where they can get excellent care. All of our O.R’s are fully integrated, they’re state-of-the-art, top-of-the-line and it’s just going to be amazing and wonderful.”
The surgery center opens on May 19 where doctors will perform their first procedure in the new space.
