Project Description:

For this project, Denver Health trusted Altus Architectural Studios to renovate an existing cath lab space. Next-generation cath labs combine the traditional diagnostic functions of a cath lab with the surgical functions of an operating room. These new spaces are suited for performing advanced therapeutic procedures such as aortic valve replacements, mitral valve repairs and epicardial ablations of ventricular tachycardias. They also help to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care.

Planning and designing these spaces requires special expertise. Issues such as radiation, vibration and ceiling structure are important considerations. The layout of these advanced rooms also requires careful planning to ensure the space allows staff to operate efficiently. The scope included placing the room finishes, ceiling, existing structural supports and MEP elements.
