Project Description:
The client for Midwest Surgical Hospital sought to create an environment that evoked the look and feel of a high-end hotel while integrating efficient work flow and patient-forward care. Located off of a main traffic artery in Omaha, Nebraska, Midwest Surgical Hospital is a neurological and orthopedic specialty hospital addition. The Altus team set out to deliver a program on a restrictive site that dictated the building footprint.
- Visitors are welcomed by an up-scale reception and check-in area
- Natural stones, glass and rich wood veneers carried throughout interior spaces
- Different chair styles, sizes and arrangements lend a relaxing feel to waiting area
- Primary program includes six operating rooms, preoperative spaces, PACU and recovery areas, nineteen patient rooms, and a physical therapy room
- Second floor atrium serves as a visitor’s lounge and nurse station
- Patient room headwalls mask medical equipment while providing an anchor and reading light for the bed
- Foot wall provides flower shelving in direct patient view, a built-in flat screen television, and ample personal storage
- Amenities include chef-prepared meals, user-adjustable lighting levels, wireless internet, and satellite television
