About This Project
In addition to the master plan focusing primarily on the inpatient campuses for UCHealth’s North Region, Altus was asked to extend the scope of the project to include additional specialty renovations, new hospital design+build services, as well as projects for “off site” or non-inpatient facilities.
This extended scope led to a number of additional projects for UCHealth, including a clinical observation unit at the Poudre Valley Hospital campus, work at the new UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital and operating room expansion and renovations at the flagship Anschutz campus in Aurora.
For this project, a new 10-bed observation unit was constructed in existing 4,660 SF shell space located directly south of the Emergency Department. The new unit provides a suitable environment for observation status patients who primarily need care for behavioral health services. In addition to special acoustical considerations, there was also need to design special systems for security and medical equipment required to care for this specialized patient population.
