About This Project
This world-class, state-of-the-art facility is one of the largest eye centers in the country, serving patients from across the Rocky Mountain region and around the world.
The Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute is housed within the UCHealth Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Eye Center on the Anschutz Campus. The original building was built in the early 2000s and expanded in 2015, doubling its footprint and adding two floors of clinical and shell space along with a new entrance.
Altus' renovation encompassed approximately 36,900 square feet across four floors of the building — renovating existing clinical space and building out shell space to increase clinical exam and office space, and to create new state-of-the-art conference and staff collaboration areas featuring the newest AV technology, hoteling and shared "think" spaces, natural light, and mountain views. The scope included refinishing existing exam rooms; adding exam, diagnostic, and three procedural rooms; a prep/recovery room; new lighting design for the optical shop; and expansion of the administrative suite housing the call center. Work followed an extensive phasing plan to keep the center operational during normal business hours, reaching completion in June 2022.
